چکیده
Abstract Many of the challenges that limited aero-engine operation in 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s were static nature: hot components exceeding temperature margins, stresses high-speed rotating structure approaching safety limits, turbomachinery aerodynamic efficiencies missing performance goals. Modeling tools have greatly improved since helped enhance jet engine design, largely due to better computers simulations fluid flow supporting structure. The situation is thus different today, where important problems encountered past design development phases are dynamic nature. These can jeopardize certification lead major delays increased program costs. Investigation and Modeling of Combustion instabilities in Aero Engines
Combustion instability results from a coupling between acoustic and heat release fluctuations. From the analysis of published works by various research teams including ONERA, this paper describes the coupling lines involved, the model used to describe it and the methods developed to predict the thermo-acoustic risks. The application is focused on the liquid-fueled aero engine specificities. Rec...
متن کاملTitanium in Aero Engines
The talk is intended to give an overview on the necessity and future trends of titanium parts in aero-engine applications. It will serve as a link to the presentations given in the special session aero-engines. It is well known that for aero-engines the combination of a very high loading by temperature and stress together with extremely high safety levels are determining the choice of materials...
متن کاملMultivariable adaptive control of instabilities arising in jet engines
We consider a class of MIMO LTI models with uncertain resonant modes and time delays, which are common in control of instabilities arising in jet engines. With uncertain delays preventing the use of model reference adaptive control, we develop an adaptive MIMO pole placement scheme for the system. We use indirect adaptation, estimating a small number of physical parameters from a nonlinearly pa...
متن کاملHard Instances of Hard Problems
This paper investigates the instance complexities of problems that are hard or weakly hard for exponential time under polynomial time many one reductions It is shown that almost every instance of almost every problem in exponential time has essentially maximal instance complexity It follows that every weakly hard problem has a dense set of such maximally hard instances This extends the theorem ...
متن کاملAERO-THERMODYNAMIC OPTIMIZATION OF TURBOPROP ENGINES USING MULTI-OBJECTIVE GENETIC ALGORITHMS
In this paper multi-objective genetic algorithms were employed for Pareto approach optimization of turboprop engines. The considered objective functions are used to maximize the specific thrust, propulsive efficiency, thermal efficiency, propeller efficiency and minimize the thrust specific fuel consumption. These objectives are usually conflicting with each other. The design variables consist ...
